A: CBT for insomnia typically takes between 4 to 12 sessions, spaced at 1-2 week intervals. The number of sessions and total treatment time is often tailored to the patient’s preferences and the clinician’s judgment. Improvements in sleep usually are reported within the first 2-4 weeks by most patients; in some cases sleep begins to improve during the first week.
