Q. How do I know if CBT is for me?

A: Ultimately this is a personal question. To answer it, you must ask yourself, "In order to aggressively treat my insomnia, am I ready to commit to a program of therapy that involves:

* regular contact with a clinician,
* altering my sleep schedule and some of my sleep-related habits,
* a few weeks of treatment before maximum benefit, and
* possibly a few days of worsened daytime sleepiness or fatigue early in treatment?"


If the answer to these questions are "Yes", or at least "I suppose so", then CBT may be for you. Talk to your doctor about all the options. You can also learn about other treatment options here.
